Lore - Other Inner Demon: The beast within all people. Inner demons exist within the hearts of all people, representing the hidden negative urges of the individual they are a part of. Hidden deep within normally, Inner Demons are brought out by implantation of an Akuma Seed, turning a person into an Akuma - or a Kaijin. Akuma Seed: Seeds of pure negative energy, these seeds turn people into Akuma upon sufficient negative emotion, bringing out one's inner demon and transforming the person. These are destroyed either when an Akuma dies or if a Kaijin manages to beat an Akuma into submission, forcing the Seed out. Kaijin are also immune to the influence of an Akuma Seed entirely. Akuma Seeds are entirely resistant to any other form of damage, such as blades or guns; only being ejected by powerful magic or a Kaijin can destroy one. Akuma: Humans transformed into their inner demons by Akuma Seeds within them when sufficient negative emotion is felt. Akuma are often modeled after mythological monsters and beasts, and wreak havoc related to the urge that transformed them using powerful magicks that can do far more damage than modern technology. The stronger the negative feeling and the deeper hidden the feeling, the stronger the resulting Akuma. Akuma are resistant, if not immune, to most means of harm; bullets and other normal human means of harm cannot harm an Akuma, only distract them at best. Even if an Akuma could be harmed, only by defeating them within their Domain can an Akuma be truly defeated; anywhere else would allow the Akuma to retreat to its Domain and heal its wounds. The only things that can harm Akuma are other Akuma, Kaijin and Rakshasa. Kaijin in particular are capable of fighting Akuma to the point that the Akuma transforms back into a human, ejecting the Akuma Seed within them. If left unchecked, Akuma can create more Akuma, as they generate more Seeds of their own. - Onibi: Creatures of shadow that are generated by Akuma to help them in their rampage. Onibi are mindless, unlike Akuma; they attack anything that bothers the Akuma they were born from. They can wield much of the same powers that their Akuma progenitor wield; while humans can fight off Onibi, new Onibi will be generated to replace the fallen. Only by defeating the progenitor Akuma will the Onibi disappear. - Domains: When an Akuma spawns, they turn much of the area around them and bend it to their will, mystical forces warping concrete, steel and rock alike to the shapes they desire. Domains are related to the desire that drove the Akuma to transform. Normal humans cannot enter or leave a Domain without help; only through the defeat of the Akuma, or guidance by a Kaijin, can a human leave a Domain freely. Domains disappear when the Akuma that created them is defeated, leaving no trace of their influence upon the world. - Kaijin: Humans that, due to shows of immense will, dominate their Inner Demon and instead of becoming Akuma, become a blend between human and demon. Appearing far more human-like and elegant than Akuma, Kaijin can transform at will and wield the same mystical powers Akuma can. Unlike Akuma, Kaijin represent the totality of the person they are born from, both the positive and the negative, and their forms change based on their personalities. Rakshasa: Mysterious beings tied to the Akuma, it is said by those aware of them that Rakshasa are the source of the Akuma Seeds. Little is known about them, save by those Kaijin who have directly encountered them.
